Network Airline Management Transports Tons of Flowers for International Mother’s Day 2022

Network Airline Management transports more than 800 tons of freshly cut flowers in the run-up to International Mother’s Day 2022. Flying into Europe from Nairobi, NAM’s B747 Freighter aircraft have fulfilled this year’s high demand once again to make Mother’s Day that extra bit special.

This year’s schedule saw 4x B747F flights operate each week with the aircraft loaded with flowers including a mix of Roses and Carnations to a maximum payload of 100 tonnes bound for Liege. The flights were overseen by Network’s Kenyan office in Nairobi to ensure a smooth operation from start to finish.

From London to the Mediterranean on Air Malta for these Fishy Customers!

100 mixed-sex Tilapia fish have been successfully flown into Malta onboard one of Air Malta’s Airbus A320 aircraft, from London Heathrow with the assistance of our Network Airline Services team based in LHR. Thanks to the team’s timely efforts and communication with the Air Malta teams, the fish are now settling in well at their new habitat in the 5 Star Mdina hotel, The Xara Palace Relais & Chateaux.

“I am really proud that NAS and Air Malta could contribute in our way to this project!” – John Gilfeather, Sales Director of Network Airline Services in the UK.

Michael Bourne from Brave Ecologic, said “We took a shipment of 100 live, mixed-sex Tilapia from London Heathrow to Malta to support a sustainable food system based on aquaponics and insect lifecycle. In our project, we take organic food waste, feed it to insect larvae, and use the larvae and other nutrients created along with them to make healthy fish feed. The feed them supports an aquaponic system that produces sustainable edible fish, flowers, herbs, salads and vegetables. Our produce is used in our kitchens, including the De Mondion Michelin Star restaurant in Mdina.

The shipment allows us to establish a breeding colony to keep a sustainable cycle of local food production and organic waste recycling without releasing CO2 or methane but instead absorbing CO2 from the atmosphere and keeping it in the food chain.”

This was a great project to work on and we welcome many more to come, so our team in LHR today for rates, availability and to book your cargo. Love is in the Air for Network Airline Management’s Flower Powered Freighters

Network Airline Management has transported over 1200 tons of freshly cut flowers from Nairobi, Kenya into Europe, to meet additional demand ahead of Valentine’s Day this year.

The Network Aviation Group has been supporting Kenya’s acclaimed horticulture industry for almost 35 years and this continues into 2022. This year’s “Valentine’s Rush” during the first 2 weeks of February, Network operated a total of 12 B747F flights, including 4 additional flights due to the high demand, carrying approximately 1260 tons of flowers in total! This complimented Network’s annual schedule of 4x weekly flights from Nairobi into NAM’s European base of Liege.

With Network’s Nairobi office overseeing the entire operation, each ‘flower charter’ flight was loaded to max payload with 105 tonnes of freshly cut flowers, including Pink/Red Roses mixed with Carnations, ready for onward trucking across Europe into various major cities such as London, Paris, and Rome upon arrival.

Network Airline Management’s Commercial Director, Andy Walters said, “2022 has been another very successful Valentine’s season for us and we’re extremely happy to maintain our role in supporting the Kenyan flower industry once again.”

Network Airline Management Support Rafi’kids Foundation in Kigali with Basketball Goods

Network Airline Management and The Round Table Belgium, through its local service club of Chaudfontaine, are pleased to be supporting the Rafi’kids Foundation, a non-profit organisation based in Belgium offering a fun, safe space for children who live in Kigali the chance to attend a regular basketball camp, for another year. NAM has been working with The Round Table to support the Rafi’kids Foundation since 2016 which continues into 2022.

“I’m really happy that NAM continues to support Rafi’kids and the Round Table this year, I would like to thank you again for this gesture,” said long-time partner of the Foundation, member of the Chaudfontaine Round Table and one of NAM’s duty managers based in Liege, Thomas Guiot.

Back in 2019, Network Airline Management transported 900kg of basketball supplies free of charge to the Foundation on its East Africa scheduled service. The flight operated from Liege to Kigali, via Nairobi and was welcomed with open arms by the children of Nyamirambo.

Last month, a further 500kg of Basketball equipment including clothing, balls, shoes and various other items were transported free of charge to the foundation allowing hundreds of children to keep playing the sport they love!

“We received a commercial gesture from Wallenborn who supplied the road transport to Liege Airport and Challenge Handling also covered the handling fees for this shipment. A kind collaboration from all parties to support a local foundation and excellent cause.” Thomas Guiot added.

Take a look at the YouTube video below to see just how much it means to the foundation and its children. For the latest from the Rafi’kids’ take a look at their Basketball Camp video here: vimeo.com/247181293 or visit their Facebook page here: facebook.com/rafikids.basketball

Network Airline Management Relocate White Rhinos from South Africa to Rwanda

Network Airline Management (NAM), in partnership with Air Charter Service South Africa, recently operated a ‘historic’ charter flight carrying 30 White Rhinos from South Africa to Rwanda. The direct flight from Durban to Kigali, operating with one of ’s wet-leased Air Atlanta Icelandic B747F, has since been dubbed ‘the biggest single White Rhino translocation ever undertaken.’

After the four-hour flight, the Rhinos were successfully rehomed in Rwanda’s Akagera National Park with help from specialist handlers who travelled on the aircraft to monitor the animals throughout the flight, providing them with care, water, and inflight catering!

The group of 30 rhinos, weighing over 60 tonnes, consisted of a mix of 11 males and 19 females of varying ages to give the threatened species the best chance for successful breeding in the future.

Sam Lindsey, NAM’s Senior Commercial Manager, stated: “There are a lot of operational difficulties when arranging live animal charter flights, even more so during the COVID-19 pandemic and with a threatened species. However, our experienced Operations and Commercial teams were quick to resolve any issues to ensure the Rhinos got to their final destination safely. We thank Francois Vermeulen at ACS South Africa for his trust in Network on this project.”

Thanks to Network’s global reach, there were regular updates received from the Network South Africa team who travelled to Durban to ensure the operation went smoothly.
