Air Malta plc has announced the appointment of Network Airline Services (NAS), a global leader in the field, as its Total Cargo Management (TCM) service provider. This appointment, with a go-live date of 1st June, follows an adjudicating process after the issuance of an international request for proposals to which a number of market leaders showed interest.

The TCM concept is viewed as an increasingly popular solution by a number of airlines and represents opportunities of generating additional cargo revenues from the maximization of aircraft cargo hold capacities. This solution is expected to generate new business opportunities from various sources whilst the airline concentrates on its core business of being a passenger airline.

Apart from a guaranteed income to Air Malta, this project shall generate cost savings in terms of better synergy shared between Air Malta and NAS across important functions such as sales and marketing, pricing and revenue management,  cargo reservations, revenue accounting, back-office administration, IT systems, cargo handling and interline contracts.

Moreover the TCM concept will enable Air Malta plc to re-group its cargo business, re-establish itself in the market place, and increase distribution channels whilst building a sound platform for possible future growth of its cargo business as an important revenue contributor to the airline through freighter hub operations, multimodal transportation, e-commerce, door-to-door products and more.

Commenting on this appointment John Vella, Air Malta’s Head Cargo Sales and Marketing explained, “We are proud to team up with Network Airline Services (NAS) as our preferred global cargo General Sales Agent. With over 30 years air cargo management experience, NAS are strategically positioned to assist Air Malta and together roll out our exciting plans and projects which will radically transform in a positive manner the way we conduct our cargo business.”

“Our vision is to strategically strengthen our position and regain a global cargo footprint and presence through NAS’s network. Locally we intend to grow our market share and become the leading carrier of choice for the carriage of cargo, courier and mail shipments both as an airline and more importantly as the National carrier ”, added Mr Vella.

John Gilfeather, Network Airline Services Sales Director, added, “The NAS team are very proud to be selected by Air Malta following a comprehensive and competitive tender. We are all looking forward to working with Air Malta staff, suppliers and customers. Air Malta Cargo has an established tradition of providing excellent customer service to companies and individuals sending goods to and from Malta. NAS has a proven track record of growing airlines cargo revenues through using the NAS global office and IT network to build a carriers cargo brand and target new revenue streams.  NAS look forward to developing the product range of Air Malta Cargo and the extension of their global coverage through developing relationships with other carriers and listening to our customers to see how we can tailor our service around their needs.”

Network Aviation Group Relocate Lions for Animal Defenders International with MD11F Charter Flight…

A Roaring Success!

After months in the planning, Network Airline Management’s Charter Department operated a flight carrying 33 lions rescued from illegal circuses from Colombia and Peru to South Africa.

The flight operated with one of NAM’s wet-leased Western Global Airlines MD11Fs, chartered by leading US broker The Charter Store and their partner, Priority Worldwide Services, on behalf of Animal Defenders International, a UK based charity with offices in London, Los Angeles, and Bogota.

The operation began in Bogota, Colombia on 29th April where 9 rescued lions were loaded and then flew south to Lima, Peru where an additional 24 lions were loaded during a two hour stop. The MD11F departed from Lima and made a short technical stop at Viracopos, Brazil to refuel and change crew. From Viracopos the flight routed to Johannesburg, South Africa, arriving the following day.

The 33 Lions arrived safe and well in Johannesburg and were loaded onto trucks for the final part of their long journey to Emoya Big Cat Sanctuary where it is hoped they will enjoy a long, peaceful retirement.

After flying for more than 15 hours, the big cats were ‘remarkably calm after such a long journey’, said Tim Phillips, co-founder of Animal Defenders International.

Several of the lions had been bred in captivity and all were forced to perform in circus acts, living in poor, cramped conditions, with some having had their teeth broken and claws removed by the previous owners.

Upon arrival at the Emoya Big Cat Sanctuary, the animals were released into open areas with natural vegetation and will be cared for under the African sun. NAM’s charter team, led by Commercial Manager Sam Lindsey, meticulously arranged all aspects of the charter along with NAM Operations, Western Global Airlines, and The Charter Store, ensuring the flight operated as scheduled and the lions arrived safely.

Take a look at the video below of the team in action.

Network Airline Services open yet another European office in Billund in Denmark, which commenced operations January, 2016.

After spending the first weeks of January preparing our office, commercial material, and at the same time contacting and visiting Cargo Agents informing them that  NAS are now open for business.

Mr. Brian Schandorf has been appointed as Country Manager, with more than 20 years of experience in the airfreight industry (Maersk Air Cargo & Kales Airlines Services) Mr. Schandorf is hopeful that we can consolidate and develop our position in the Danish market where aid & relief, office supplies, mining equipment, election material, ship spares and not to forget – pharmaceuticals are the keywords talking Danish airfreight.

With our location in Billund (The capital of LEGO) we are close to the second largest airport in Denmark with some of the “heavy weights” in the Danish industry. It is also the preferable airport for charter flights (cargo) to/from Denmark.

By placing Network Airline Service in Denmark representing; Allied Air Cargo, Astral Aviation, Air Malawi, Air Mediteranee and Bringer Cargo we can expect to be able to increase our market share, ensuring a bigger piece of the pie.

Network Airline Services are excited and looking forward to these new challenges.
